Miles Davis Marathon
– A Nightly Journey Through the Master’s Legacy

This summer, during Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Epicurus revisits jazz history with a condensed edition of Epicurus’ Miles Davis Marathon, marking the centennial of Miles Davis in 2026.
Throughout the festival, audiences are guided through defining chapters of Miles’ extraordinary legacy. The first week is dedicated to his acoustic masterpieces, capturing the hard-swinging elegance and lyrical depth of albums such as Milestones, Kind of Blue and other classic small-group recordings. The second week shifts into Miles’ electric revolution, exploring the bold, boundary-breaking energy of works like Bitches Brew and Tutu. Each night presents a complete album performed live in full — a rare opportunity to experience the evolution of one of music’s greatest visionaries.
At the helm is trumpeter Wallace Roney Jr., carrying forward both his own artistic voice and the lineage of his late father, Wallace Roney — a direct protégé of Miles Davis. He is joined by an international all-star ensemble including saxophonist Gábor Bolla, bassists Tobias Dall and Felix Pastorius (alternating), and drummers Nikolaj Dall and Jacob Hatholt (alternating). Pianist Calle Brickman leads the acoustic week, while the electric period sees Sebastian Zawadzki at the piano alternating withCarl Mörner Ringströmon guitar to complete the electric soundscape.
